Earlier this month I went with our daughter Teanna and her friend Katie to Disneyland. You guessed it, when it’s High School graduations in June or, apparently, a Monday in October, California likes to pull out the sizzling 105 degrees! We were prepared and drank lots of water and navigated throughout the day. The nice part is that NO LOCALS with annual passports were to be seen. Only the committed out-of-town traveler would brave this torture! We wrapped up our last rides and decided to head over to Frontierland for a pickle on the way out and saw that we could walk onto rides over there—it was a ghost town.
You know the joke, when you ride the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland, you eventually get to see the 8th Wonder of the World—The Back Side of Water! Just a few weeks later we actually drove to Niagara Falls, the true 8th Wonder of the World! It is so incredible! I often joke that real life is cooler than Disneyland and way more affordable! We drove out in the morning to the Canadian side, so majestic and still so many lush gardens and flowers. We returned to the USA, greeted by a very stern Border Patrol officer who grilled us on our itinerary of two hours. We toured the beautiful National Park after that; the highlight was the views at Bridal Veil Falls, the fall leaves and the incredible show nature put on. Later in the afternoon the skies cleared up and we were able to fly over the falls and see them from the air. Real life adventures are always more amazing, sorry Walt.
FYI, two weeks later my cousin Susan went on Thursday and Friday last week and of course it rained and Frontierland flooded! California, always the jokester.
