We had a chance to fly up to Redding last month to visit my oldest daughter’s family. While there I got to take her and the grand kids for a flight. They have flown commercial but never in a small plane.

We went through a pre-flight, explaining everything to them and climbed in. I went over the rules with them, including not talking when we were on the ground, departing, and when I called up the tower on our way back.

It was a fun flight for a little flight-seeing over Lake Shasta. On the way back I reminded them about not talking, and they did pretty well… for a few seconds, so I reached up and turned off their mic’s. After landing as we were taxiing back my daughter said “I wish I had one of those switches in my van!”
