When we were visiting family back in Arizona at the end of January I finally took my dad up flying in the Mooney. I planned what should be a fun little ‘flightseeing’ trip. We would depart north from Chandler (KCHD) staying under the 2,700′ shelf of PHX’s Bravo, then turn East and fly up the Salt River Lakes before turning to the Southwest and heading back to Chandler over the Superstition Mountains.

I put the camera on the left wing tie-down and we climbed in. After a taxi and run-up we were taking off on 4L and on our way.  Passing to the south of Fountain Hills we found a few bumps in the air. I commented to my dad that my wife didn’t like the bumps very much. His comment was “Why not, that’s just reminding you that there is still some air around you.”

It was a beautiful flight and great to be up there with my dad.
