Last night as we flew to Arizona we finished listening to Fly Girls by Keith O’Brien. The closing was a beautiful letter from a mother, Louise Thaden, to her daughter. Richard’s mother passed away in December and returning to visit without her here echoes this beautiful poem in real time. She is here, in every corner, if I just close my eyes.
I have never been far away, will you remember that always?
Wherever I am, I will be with you.
In the rustling of the trees and the lazy drift of the clouds across the sky.
I will be in the whispers on the wind, in the great blue horizon and in the falling rain.
The hues of sunset will be a part of me, and the smell of flowers in the air.
Contrails cut across God’s Heavens will be the paths along which I walk.
The drifting snowflakes my caress, the morning sun my confidence.
Close your eyes, you will find me, you will feel my presence in the air.
