In September I celebrated my 52nd trip around the sun. My wife had the idea that I could try to fly once a week for 52 weeks as a way of ongoing celebration. While I try to fly once a week, it has pushed me to pay more attention to the calendar and my available days to fly.
My birthday was on a Sunday, so I decided to measure the weeks from Sunday to Saturday. Somehow I need to find a day during that span, every week for the next 52 weeks.
On this particular week, there just wasn’t a lot of wiggle room. There absolutely wasn’t enough time on any day to fly somewhere for the “$100 Burger Run.” Fortunately, flying out of the LA Basin there are plenty of opportunities for short “flightseeing” trips.
I had my wife meet me after work with the intention of a quick flight along the coast at sunset. The marine layer had a different plan. But, it was clear towards Los Angeles so I filed a quick flight plan around downtown and back to Fullerton so I could pull a briefing.
It was a short 22 minute flight. It was beautiful, catching the skyline just after the sun went down and flying past Dodger’s Stadium where they were preparing for Game 1 of the Divisional Series against the San Diego Padres the next day.
