A Yosemite Poem

From Flying over Yosemite, Memorial Day gasping in fear
To Hiking Yosemite in June, crying real tears.

I have goals, I have plans,
Yosemite’s real, I’m telling you man.

I knew I would go, Just had to navigate,
I even got a 2019 Yosemite license plate.

I’m a California Native, even though I’ve never made it,
I heard more foreign languages than one could calculate.

The drive in was enchanted with Sierra Primrose welcoming us,
We slowed down to watch a bear cub, while half dome rose above the forest.

We started at Yosemite Falls, we biked, and we hiked,
So much beauty, the flowers, even the weather was just right.

After a fall in the meadow, I became crabby,
So, Richard quickly took me to Degnan’s Deli.

At the Vernal Falls bridge, I laid on a rock,
for me that was the summit, but Richard didn’t stop.

He took the Mist Trail to the top in short time,
Just 46 minutes round trip, he was back with a smile.

On to Mirror Lake and Half Dome’s reflection,
Continuously applying  sunscreen and bug protection.

We stopped in El Cap Meadow, with all the Oohs and Ahhs,
Then Richard made one more stop at Bridal Veil Falls.

With the sun setting behind the oak trees,
We drove back to Mammoth.

We listened to “On the Nose” by Han Florine,
He told of his love for Yosemite, now it’s real for me.
