From the time we got our Mooney and started flying places in it we’ve always called it a time machine. Almost eight years and over 1,000 hours later we are still amazed that we’re able to wake up at a decent hour in one place, spend time visiting family or doing some activities, and still be home in our own bed that night. It’s been pretty incredible. If you are doing the math, it’s about three times faster than driving.
But…. nature hates a vacuum! Whatever nature gives it finds a way to take it back. This time machine works in reverse when you aren’t flying. If Richard goes to the hangar to work on something, no estimate is ever accurate… The standard rule of thumb over almost eight years of plane ownership, is if to take whatever time he thinks the project will take and then multiply that by at least two, sometimes three.
“What was that? You said you think it will take three hours?”
In “Hangar Time” that means “I hope I’ll be back in time for dinner.” 🤣
